What to Bring

Here's a list of essentials to bring on a British Virgin Islands (BVI) sailing charter.  Many of these items appear in the Charter Chat Marketplace where they, as well as other items can easily be purchased via Amazon links.  Remember the saying...bring half the clothes and twice the cash.  

 

Clothing and Personal Items:

1. Swimwear: Several pairs of swimsuits.

2. Light Clothing: T-shirts, shorts, and light dresses.

3. Cover-ups: Sarong, beach cover-ups.

4. Hat and Sunglasses: To protect from the sun.

5. Footwear: Flip-flops, boat shoes, and sandals.

6. Light Jacket or Sweater: Evenings can be cooler on the water.

7. Personal Toiletries: Including sunscreen, after-sun care, and insect repellent.

8. Medications: Seasickness medicine, if needed.

 

Practical Items:

9. Travel Documents: Passport, identification

10. Waterproof Bag: For carrying essentials to shore.

11. Towels: Quick-dry towels for the beach and onboard.

12. Reusable Water Bottle: To stay hydrated.

13. Snorkeling Gear: Mask, snorkel, fins (if not provided by charter).

14. Camera or Waterproof Phone Case: For capturing memories.

15. Chargers and Power Banks: To keep devices charged.

 

Other Essentials:

16. Cash: For onshore expenses and tips.

17. First Aid Kit: Basic supplies for cuts and scrapes. (also available on charter boat)

18. Deck Shoes: Non-marking shoes for onboard use.

19. Binoculars: For wildlife spotting and sightseeing. (usually provided by charter)

20. Dry Bags: For keeping valuables dry during excursions.

 

Optional Items:

21. Books or E-reader: For relaxing downtime.

22. Fishing Gear: If you plan to fish off the charter. (Can also rent this)

23. Games: Cards, travel board games.

24. Personalized Snacks: If you have specific dietary needs or preferences.

25. Music Player or Speaker: To enjoy music on board.

26. Favorite Spices: bring in small ziplock bags

27. Ziplock bags: Bring for storage of food and other items during the trip

28. Sharpies: these always come in handy

29. Clothespins: most boat will have some but its always better to have plenty more

Important Note:

- Luggage: Pack in soft-sided bags for easy stowing aboard the charter.
